OGP UK Ltd. has launched a high-precision measuring machine called the SmartScope Vantage 300. A multiple sensor system for use by engineering metrologists, it is targeted toward the medical, aerospace and motor-sports industries. For example, it can be used to measure the sphericity and surface finish of components for hip implants.
The machine has an elevated bridge, ensuring reliable and repeatable measurements through high rigidity and stability. The video sensor, touch probe and microprobe measure simultaneously, enabling complete and accurate measurement of the workpiece in a single operation. There also is an optional laser for on-axis through-the-lens measurement. The video system uses a patented TeleStar telecentric autocalibrating zoom lens, and the SP25 probe facilitates continuous scan-touching. Despite its small footprint, the machine has a measuring volume of 300 × 300 × 250 mm and accommodates large components.
The system comes with MeasureMind 3-D metrology software that enables the measurement of simple geometric parts up to complex free-form shapes.
