Fibre Laser Requires No Maintenance

IPGLaser.jpgIPG Laser GmbH has introduced a high-power version of its YLM fibre laser emitting 100 W in continuous-wave 1.07-μm radiation from a unit measuring 270 × 301 × 75 mm. The diode-pumped fibre laser delivers a diffraction-limited M2 <1.05-quality output beam directly to the work site via a metal-sheathed single-mode fibre cable up to 5 m long.

Applications are mainly in micromaterials processing. Because of its diffraction-limited beam characteristics, the laser achieves minimum spot diameters of <10 μm and high power densities of >108 W/cm2. Welding and cutting heads as well as scanners are prepared for connection to the collimation unit. The beam diameter is scalable in sizes of 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 mm (1/e2).

The low-form laser is supplied with a 10-μm fibre. The air-cooled system weighs 7 kg and can be integrated easily into machines and equipment in any orientation. The fibre output is a pluggable collimator equipped with a protective glass.

The factory-sealed laser is equipped with single-diode emitters with long lifetimes.

The air-cooled design enables simple OEM integration into small spaces. The system runs on a 24-VDC supply, and the digital input signal produces modulation of up to 100 kHz.
