Spectra-Physics_Excelsior_orange.jpgThe Excelsior 594 laser has been released by Newport Corp.’s Spectra-Physics Lasers Div. The twelfth addition to the Excelsior OEM family of low-power CW lasers, the multilongitudinal-mode device offers 30 mW of output power at 594 nm. It is suitable for flow cytometry and emerging microscope and DNA sequencing applications that rely on the 594-nm laser source to excite fluorescent dyes such as “Texas Red.” Specifications include a spectral linewidth of <1 nm, beam quality of M2 <1.5, beam divergence <1.2 mrad, 0.5% rms (10 Hz to 20 MHz) optical noise, power stability of <±2% (over 8 h), a 4.53 × 1.97 × 1.71-in. footprint and an operating temperature range of 10 to 40 °C (80% relative humidity).
