The MagnaRay wavelength-dispersive x-ray spectrometer (WDS) introduced by Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. automatically combines energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) results with WDS operations using the embedded system. The spectrometer, integrated with the company’s EDS NORAN System 7, accurately determines the elements to be analyzed while the EDS simultaneously collects the data. The maximum element-to-element time on a single x-ray diffractor is 0.25 s, while on different diffractors it is 3 s; reproducibility in diffractor positioning is <0.001°. The instrument has a sealed xenon proportional counter with a light element window.
