Cobolt AB has expanded its line of compact visible lasers with the addition of the Cobolt Mambo, a CW solid-state laser that operates at a fixed wavelength of 594 nm with output power of 25 mW. Suitable for fluorescence analysis applications such as confocal microscopy and flow cytometry, the single-longitudinal-mode device has low noise of <0.3% rms, high beam quality with M2 <1.1 and a narrow spectral linewidth. Providing an alternative to HeNe lasers, it is used in fluorescence applications such as the excitation of Alexa Fluor 594 and Texas Red.
