Newport.jpgSolaryX, an edge laser processing system, has been released by Newport Corp. for thin-film solar cell manufacturing. It performs edge deletion and removal of thin-film coatings on solar panels and, the company says, offers a lower cost of ownership than techniques such as sandblasting. The fully self-contained 1064-nm system provides 24/7 operation with a high mean time between failures. Deletion width range is from 3 to 25 mm, and nominal glass thickness range is from 3 to 5 mm.
