WINOOSKI, Vt., Jan. 14, 2009 – The EL406 launched by BioTek Instruments Inc. performs fast and efficient microplate washing and reagent dispensing in 1536-well microplates as well as in 384- and 96-well formats for increased versatility. With the combination of microplate washing and up to three-reagent dispensers, researchers no longer have to purchase and maintain separate instruments for each assay wash and reagent dispense step.BioTek_Microplate-Washer.jpg

The proprietary and patented Dual-Action manifold accommodates applications rangin from gentle washing of loosely adherent cell monolayers to complex washing routines. The system is self-maintained and employs integrated and patent-pending Ultrasonic Advantage to reduce or eliminate clogged manifold tubes, which are the largest contributors to assay failure. A valve-switching module automates reagent switching of up to four different buffers.

Researchers no longer have to limit themselves to one-reagent dispenser technology. Accurate and precise reagent dispensing is available in both peristaltic and microprocessor-controlled syringe drive reagent-dispensing technologies, each with advantages for specific assay requirements. All functions, which include multiple custom protocols, instant recall via QuickWash and QuickDispense, and downloaded protocols from LHC software, are controlled via Liquid Handling Control (LHC) PC software or the instrument’s onboard keypad.

All EL406 models are BioStack microplate stacker-compatible to automate assay processes of up to 50 standard-height microplates.
