CarlZeiss.jpgCarl Zeiss Ltd.’s Primo Star iLED fluorescence microscope featuring LED illumination can detect tuberculosis pathogens four times faster and with 10 percent more sensitivity than with traditional bright-field microscopes, according to the company. The device requires no warm-up or cooldown time and consumes a fraction of the power used by a mercury-vapor lamp. It features magnifications of 100× to 1000× for visual observation and a parfocal distance of 45 mm. It can be retrofitted to the proprietary Primo Star microscope with a fluorescence module, carrying handle, magnet insert, eye cups and diaphragm slider.
