Alfalight Inc. has introduced an 808-nm, 0.65-W single-emitter pump diode laser, packaged on a 3-mm Q-mount. An integrated grating on the laser chip provides a pump wavelength locked on the narrow-absorption band of the gain medium, eliminating the need for temperature control circuitry. The laser’s operation and packaging are the same as that of a standard laser diode. The device has applications in picoprojector and laser display systems.
