Laser measurement software
LOGAN, Utah, April 14, 2009 – Ophir-Spiricon Inc. has introduced the StarLab laser measurement software that runs under Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista (32-bit). It works with proprietary smart displays and PC interfaces, enabling users to measure, analyze and record laser power and energy parameters from the company’s full line of smart power/energy sensors, including the Quasar wireless meter and the Pulsar high-speed multichannel USB meter.
Designed for applications such as measuring the peak-to-peak stability of energy pulses or the power drift of continuous-wave lasers over time, the software simultaneously logs data from up to eight power/energy sensors. Users can display data from all sensors at once, tiling the information onto a PC screen, or they can display data from each sensor individually. StarLab also can be used to control the power/energy sensors from their own software using the built-in ActiveX control.
Users can transmit power and single-shot energy data directly to a PC via wireless Bluetooth or can send real-time data to a PC at up to 25,000 points per second via USB. The company says that the software is easy to configure and provides user-adjustable calibration.
Data from the company's pyroelectric, thermal and photodiode heads is gathered and recorded using any of its laser power/energy meters. Collected data is displayed in a variety of formats, including moving average graphs, energy vs. time, and histograms of pulses per energy interval. The menu-driven interface renders configuring measurement parameters, such as range and laser, quick and easy. Data logging periods range from 5 s to 500 h.
