SpectraPhysics.jpgSpectra-Physics, a division of Newport Corp., has released the ProLite Xt Orion diode laser with a brightness of 1.8 MW/cm2-sr, which is suitable for laser pumping. The fiber-coupled device employs multiple single emitters in a “mini bar” design, which maximizes reliability through independent emitter failure tolerance. Offering optimized beamshaping, it delivers more than 20-W output from a 105-μm, 0.22-NA fiber. The hermetic, compact package and low thermal load provide design flexibility for commercial laser systems in the life and health sciences markets. The platform can be integrated into a wide variety of laser systems and is available at 915-, 940- and 980-nm wavelengths. It has a spectral width of 7 nm FWHM, maximum operating voltage of 1.8 V and an operating temperature range of 20 to 30 °C.
