Multipurpose adhesive
TORRINGTON, Conn., June 9, 2009 – For high-speed, high-volume needle bonding assembly, Dymax Corp. has introduced the Ultra-Red fluorescing 1180-M-UR, a multipurpose medical device adhesive that cures upon exposure to UV or visible light. Dymax_Ultra-Red.jpg

Designed for rapid bonding of the plastics and metals typically used in the manufacture of syringes and needles, it is available in thixotropic (5,000 cP) and low (150 cP) viscosities, and fluoresces bright red under low-intensity “black” light (365 nm). The bright red fluorescence contrasts well on plastics that naturally fluoresce blue in color, and assists with visual inspection of bond-line areas.

This solvent-free adhesive is ISO 10993-approved and compatible with gamma, EtO, and E-Beam sterilization. Its ability to cure in fractions of a second enables faster processing, greater output and lower processing costs. Besides needle bonding, the adhesive is suitable for the assembly of reservoirs and transducers as well as for medical potting applications.
