The Colibri light source from Carl Zeiss MicroImaging GmbH uses high-performance LEDs for biomedical fluorescence research and routine fluorescence procedures. Ten wavelengths from the UV to dark red are available, and it is possible to switch between wavelengths at up to 300 μs when used with the company’s Cell Observer HS. Automatic component recognition signals when LEDs are correctly positioned, so users can easily remove and exchange them. The LEDs provide reproducible illumination because they last >10,000 h. The light source can be used with microscopes and can be controlled with AxioVision software.
