Syncroscopy has released the Montage Explorer, an automated sample scanning and image stitching system that produces a focused image of an entire microscope slide. The instrument consists of a high-resolution, color CCD digital camera that can be fitted to any microscope, an optional motorized X-Y-Z stepper stage and a PC with imaging software. It automatically extends the depth of field as the sample is moved, produces a 3-D montage in real time and calibrates the camera to the stage to prevent misalignment.
