Eco-design Power Meters
Feb 2010
Chroma Systems Solutions Inc.Request Info
LAKE FOREST, Calif., Feb. 8, 2010 – Chroma Systems Solutions Inc.'s 66200 series power meters meet the Eco-design Directive for measurement requirements of energy-using products (EuP) in addition to meeting Energy Star requirements and Spec compliance.

The Eco-design Directive for Energy-using Products (2005/32/EC) was established to provide a framework under which manufacturers of energy-using products are, at the initial design stage, obliged to increase energy efficiency and reduce negative environmental impact.

Various measurement guidelines and requirements have been defined by the directive, including power consumption measurement requirements. Measurement of power of =0.5 W must be made with an uncertainty of =2% at the 95% confidence level, and measurement of power <0.5 W must be made with an uncertainty of =0.01 W at the same confidence level. The directive also requires increased measurement information on parameters such as voltage, current, frequency, power, total harmonic distortion and power factor.

Combining the power meter with proprietary standard software specifically designed for the 66200 series, users can accomplish the required EuP measurement tasks easily. The company also provides Power Efficiency Test software as a more comprehensive measurement solution for meeting eco-design requirements on active power efficiency measurements of external power supplies.

The digital power meters are designed for single-phase measurements of AC power signals and related parameters. The internal 16-bit analog-to-digital converters with sampling rates of up to 200 kHz provide high-speed and highly accurate measurements. Features include 10-mA minimum current, 1-mW power resolution, a dual current shunt design, and a USB or GPIB interface.

The four-part display has a seven-segment LED front panel readout.
