TeraView Ltd. has unveiled the CW Spectra 499, a continuous-wave terahertz system with fiber-fed external devices. The compact and fully tunable spectrometer and detector operate in the 50- to 1500-GHz range, with high spectral resolution. The system is suitable for use in solid-state physics research, terahertz propagation in metamaterials, high-frequency dielectric measurements, gas and solid phase spectroscopy, medical tissue characterization and nondestructive testing. The turnkey system employs proprietary GaAs-based photomixers and optical fibers for flexibility. Imaging and spectral analysis software is supplied, and a gantry can be added for imaging of large objects.
