The QLight SAX20r X-Amp, a 1060-nm semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) from Alphion Corp., is for use as a gain element in swept and amplified spontaneous emission sources. Also suitable for use in fiber optic sensing, medical imaging, and test and measurement applications, it is available with HI 1060 fiber and FC/APC connectors. A PM980 fiber and connector option also is offered. Available in an MSA-compliant, 14-pin butterfly package, it delivers high output power over a wide optical bandwidth and supports rates up to 160 Gb/s. The package incorporates both a thermistor and a thermoelectric cooler to provide stable operation of the SOA over the full operating temperature range. The standard product is available with a 20-dB typical gain, with other gain options available upon request.
