l2kWJenoptik Laserdiode GmbH has introduced a diode laser that can deliver 2 kW through fiber. The JOLD-2000-CAXF-25P2W2 has power densities up to 250 kW/cm2 at the target, making it suitable for industrial laser systems such as robotic applications. The diode laser, which incorporates beam shaping and fiber-based beam-guiding techniques, can generate symmetrical kilowatt diode laser beams. In both fast and slow axis, the beam parameter product is less than 200 mm mrad. The company expects the laser to be used for soldering, welding, hardening, remelting, surface alloying and cleaning. It is available in custom design variations for adaptation to other applications.
