Topac Inc. Instrumentation has introduced the Polartronic series of automatic
circle polarimeters from Schmidt and Haensch. Designed to measure the optical
activity and concentration of optically active solutes, these microprocessor-controlled
devices feature continuous measurement, automatically updated readouts,
and a halogen lamp and interference filters to define up to five analyzing
wavelengths. The analyzer is directly coupled to an optical encoder, ensuring
high accuracy and linearity, and eliminating the backlash problems associated
with traditional mechanical designs. Applications include the optical activity
of sugar, glucose-fructose and carbohydrates, and the control of raw materials
in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
