Avantes BV has unveiled the AvaSpec-NIR256 spectrometer,
available with two InGaAs detector types — an uncooled version for applications
up to 1.7 μm and a two-stage Peltier-cooled extended version, covering a range
of up to 2.2 μm. The device has 256 pixels and can be combined with all of
the company’s other AvaSpec-USB2.0 spectrometers in the UV/VIS range to form
a multichannel system that covers the 200-nm to 2.2-μm range. It uses a 50-mm-focal-length
f/2 optical bench for high sensitivity. A choice of NIR-blazed gratings is
available. The USB2.0 interface enables sampling of 940 spectra per second and data
transfer in 1.56 ms. Supported by the AvaSoft 7.0 software, the device is suitable
for measuring fructose in fruit and glucose in blood.
