Cube 445, a conduction-cooled laser from Coherent Inc., delivers 40 mW at 445 nm. Designed to replace HeCd gas lasers, the all-semiconductor technology improves reliability, noise, lifetime and beam characteristics. It features an M2 of <1.2, beam divergence of 0.6 mrad, pointing stability of 6 μrad/°C and a typical rms noise level of 0.05% at 10 Hz to 100 MHz. The laser head dissipates 3 W of heat and measures 100 x 40 x 40 mm. The device streamlines the process of system design because it can be directly modulated at bandwidths of up to 125 MHz. It offers standard USB or RS-232 interfaces with full control and measurements, and a standard form factor for all Cube laser wavelengths. Users include scientists working in biomedicine, microelectronics and engineering prototyping.
