Nikon USA has added the DS-Fi1 digital camera head and the DS-L2 and DS-U2 control units to its Digital Sight series. The camera head, with a CCD sensor, offers 5-megapixel resolution and faster frame rates, and it contains an updated IR filter to reproduce red. It is designed for performing bright-field, phase contrast, dark-field and color fluorescence microscopy. The DS-L2 controller features an 8.4-in. LCD, on-screen GUI, two USB ports and DVI-I digital output. It can be operated with only a mouse and does not require attachment to a computer. The DS-U2, which can be connected to a USB 2.0 port, is thin and compact.
