IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH has released a free software update for its USB uEye XS industrial camera. The camera previously supported live image acquisition in a high-definition-ready 720-pixel format at 1280 x 720 resolution at 15 fps only, or at 30 fps for images at lower resolutions. In single-frame mode, however, the CMOS sensor from Sony achieves up to 8-megapixel resolution that now can be captured using software triggering. The software also provides a large choice of additional image formats, which are created by the sensor’s built-in scaling functions. The automatic image controls for exposure, backlight compensation, ISO (International Standards Organization) and white balance are controlled directly by the camera, which ensures high-speed performance.
