Deepstar temperature-stabilized diode lasers produced by Omicron Laserage Laserprodukte GmbH offer modulation speeds of up to 100 MHz and modulation depth of greater than 100,000:1. Part of the LDM series, they are designed for fluorescence excitation and other applications that require the complete absence of residual light in the “modulation zero” state. With analog modulation greater than 10 MHz, digital modulation greater than 100 MHz, and signal rise and fall time of less than 2 ns, the devices are suitable for applications that were previously possible only with CW lasers and acousto-optic modulators, according to the company. Featuring an RS-232 interface, the diode lasers are available with 20 mW at 375 nm, 60 mW at 405 nm, 50 mW at 442 nm, 20 mW at 473 nm, as well as with powers of up to 150 mW at 635 to 980 nm.
