Holoeye Photonics AG has unveiled the HEO 1080 P phase-only spatial light modulator. Based on a reflective liquid-crystal-on-silicon microdisplay, the device provides 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution in wide-screen format at a pixel pitch of 8.0 μm. Suitable for such applications as optical trapping and wavefront correction, the instrument has an electrically controlled birefringence display mode that enables a pure phase shift of 2 Pi up to 1064 nm. Versions optimized for 420 to 810 nm and for 800 to 1100 nm are available. Gratings, phase masks, holograms and other optical phase functions are addressed via a digital visual interface graphics card, and its graphical user interface enables users to adapt modulation performance to an actual task and laser wavelength.
