McPherson Inc. offers multiple-pass double-dispersion accessory optics for its 0.67- to 2-m focal length monochromators, which achieve twice the resolution, a low f number and good light throughput, according to the company. The doubling of resolution and dispersion is achieved by plane folding mirrors that multiply the monochromator focal length. The instruments are suitable for experiments where more spectral resolution is required but a larger instrument is not available. They have application in scanning monochromators and in imaging and other CCD-based detection techniques.
