Rad-icon Imaging Corp. has launched the Remote RadEye HR, a detachable, high-resolution x-ray sensor for compact x-ray imaging systems. The device contains a 2-D CMOS photodiode array with a 1200 x 1600-pixel matrix and 22.5-μm-pixel spacing. A Gd2O2S scintillator screen converts incident x-ray photons to light, which, in turn, is detected by photodiodes. The sensor has a 10- to 90-kV energy range with a 12-bit digital video output. Sensor electronics can be placed up to 1 m away. Although the device is intended for portable use, it also can be used in fixed installations.
