SPARTANBURG, S.C., Sept. 9, 2010 — Designed for single-fiber and angled cleaves, two new mid-range cleaver series released by AFL Telecommunications, a Fujikura business, both provide high-quality cleaving at an economical price. Compact and lightweight, they are suitable for field installations and mechanical splices.

The CT-10A series fiber cleavers are designed for cleaving single fibers only with average angles of 0.5°. The rugged yet scaled-down design offers simple, single-step operation and high-precision cleaves. They are suited for the installation of field-installable connectors and mechanical splices. The 16-position flat diamond blade can be replaced easily by the user and offers a lifetime of 64,000 cleaves. A detachable scrap collector is available for purchase separately.

The CT-11A single-fiber cleavers are specifically designed for angled cleaving applications. Supplied with a factory adjustment to the industry standard of 8°, they can cleave up to 9°. Rugged and durable, they are suitable for fiber-to-the-home installers and others working in harsh environments. The also have a user-replaceable flat diamond blade and perform up to 64,000 cleaves.

Both cleave 250- to 900-µm fibers. They are easy to use, simple to adjust and consistent, according to the company.
