STIRLING, N.J., Sept. 16, 2010 — Enabling the use of fiber optics in potentially damaging environments, Fiberguide Industries Inc. has introduced its new standard line of single-fiber assemblies.
The company’s assemblies have proven effective in a number of scientific and industrial applications ranging from light measurement, process monitoring and control, to ultraviolet/visible spectroscopy, chromatography and fluorescence.
Offered is a selection of protective sheathing and fiber optic core sizes to fit customers’ needs. Single-fiber assemblies are available with two choices of chemical-resistant, nonmagnetic sheathing. For general-purpose use, the company’s furcation tubing comprises a Kevlar-reinforced polyvinyl chloride sleeve over a polypropylene tube. Furcation tubing is nonconductive and protects fibers with a liquid-tight seal.
For more specialized applications, the company offers stainless steel monocoil sheathing that is vacuum-compatible and resistant to tight bending, crushing, cutting, kinking and high temperatures.
Both standard cable designs are rated for use at ambient temperatures. Single-fiber assemblies are available with core sizes ranging from 50 to 1000 µm and in wavelengths from the deep-UV to the ultraviolet/visible and the visible/infrared.
Assemblies are also available upon request with ST and FC connectors, with numerical apertures of 0.12 and 0.26, and in continuous lengths up to 50 m.
