Edmund Optics has introduced the TechSpec plastic hybrid aspheric lenses. The color-corrected molded aspheric-diffractive lenses are designed to eliminate chromatic aberrations caused by broadband light sources. They feature a proprietary diffraction-limited design and are suited for imaging and ophthalmic applications and for use with tunable laser and broadband or multispectral illumination sources. The aspheric base eliminates spherical aberration, allowing for better image quality. The diffractive surface features a negative optical dispersion that yields good color correction and minimized chromatic aberration. They are also available in higher numerical aperture designs.
