Carl Zeiss MicroImaging Inc. has introduced the Axio Lab.A1 microscope
for use in polarization microscopy, student education and routine laboratory applications.
This upright microscope suits colleges, universities and research institutes in
the fields of geoscience and mineralogy, and in the oil exploration industry. It
enables microscopic examinations of primarily thin geological and mineralogical
specimens of glass and polymer samples. It features rapid, reliable switching from
orthoscopy to conoscopy. The new stand for conoscopic examinations includes an integrated
depolarizer and a rotary analyzer. The focusable Bertrand lens placed on the stand
is linked to the analyzer, allowing operating convenience and error-free use. The
system can be used with traditional and AxioCam line cameras, with AxioVision image
processing software and with the AxioCam ERc 5s.
