Oclaro Inc. has added the LiNbO3 PM100 modulator to its portfolio of components for transmission and line applications. Extending the company’s 100G component offering, the modulator supports the Dual Polarization-QPSK modulation schemes: each of four parallel MZIs running at speeds up to 32 Gbaud. When combined with the polarization multiplexing scheme, the QPSK modulation format offers compatibility with 50 GHz optical channel spacing and more than doubles the capacities of conventional 40-G transmission. Samples are currently available, with general availability expected in early 2011.
