FPS-1 Photodiode Detector
MKS Ophir, Light & MeasurementRequest Info
LOGAN, Utah, Nov. 11, 2010 — Ophir-Spiricon’s Laser Measurement Group has announced the FPS-1 fast photodetector. Designed to measure the temporal pulse shape of lasers or other light sources, it is a high-speed photodiode sensor with a wide spectral response. The sensor provides a fast 1-ns response time and accommodates wavelengths from 190 to 1100 nm.
Compact, easy to use and flexible, it provides two modes of operation: the 50-Ω load measures nanosecond high peak power pulses, while the 10-KΩ load measures longer and lower peak power pulses. Input can be direct beam or from a fiber connection. The sensor operates off a 12-V alkaline battery or off the included 12-VDC wall cube power supply.
Neutral density filters are optionally available to adjust the sensitivity to the power level of the source, or the user can adjust the input intensity to the level appropriate for the detector by scattering the laser light off a white matte surface and then backing off until the appropriate intensity is reached.
The detector is a silicon PIN photodiode, with a detector area of 0.8 mm2 and a peak sensitivity wavelength of 720 nm. Maximum output voltage is 10 V.
Optional attenuators and fiber adapters are available.
