For machine vision applications, Power Technology Inc. has announced the PNF laser module designed for 3-D profiling and imaging, dimensional scanning, high-speed road and rail inspection, web inspection, fluorescence and illumination. With its high-quality electronics, it can serve as a drop-in replacement for most existing machine vision lasers. Delivering 0.1 to 200 mW of output power at wavelengths from 375 to 2330 nm, it features uniform non-Gaussian intensity line generators; Variable Focus technology; good wavelength stability; good optical power stability; and continuous-wave, digital or analog modulation up to 100 MHz. It can be configured for optimal performance at close or long range. The Variable Focus technology allows the user to calibrate the focus of the module and then re-tune the line generator for optimal performance.
