For applications that require higher wavelength discrimination and improved signal-to-noise ratio, LabSmith Inc. designed its EPI epifluorescence optics modules for use with its SVM340 synchronous video microscope. The modules are suitable for microfluidics and for biological applications such as cell imaging and microparticle image velocimetry. They extend the application space for the video microscope, which acquires images, video and velocity data in micro- and nanofluidic circuits. Adding epifluorescence capabilities allows researchers to visualize and record flows using greater selectivity, limits of detection and resolution. The EPI-Blue and EPI-Green modules are suitable for imaging FITC and Cy3 conjugates, respectively. All modules are sealed, self-contained and include a high-sensitivity camera, excitation and emission filters, a dichroic mirror, an LED illuminator and an objective mount.
