LOGAN, Utah, Dec. 7, 2010 — Ophir Laser Measurement Group has announced a new version of its StarLab laser measurement software that converts a PC into a multichannel laser power/energy station. It incorporates Microsoft COM Object technology, a programming language-neutral way of implementing objects across applications, even across machine boundaries.

The company's COM Object, OphirLMMeasurement, is employed by developers to create reusable software components and to link these components together to build applications. This allows systems integrators and OEMs to quickly and easily create applications that use laser measurement objects without having to know how the objects were built.

An OEM can integrate the company’s power meter products into its own system software using OphirLMMeasurement, a thermopile sensor and Juno, Ophir's compact USB module that connects any of the company's 100+ smart laser sensors (thermal, pyroelectric and photodiode) to a PC USB port.

OphirLMMeasurement supports and is included free of charge with all of the company's USB-enabled laser power/energy meters and PC interfaces, allowing the devices to easily be integrated into test and measurement applications. Fully supported are Vega, Nova-II, Pulsar, Juno, USB1 and Quasar devices.

Included in the StarLab installation are client application demos in VB.NET, VC#.NET, and LabView.

Data is displayed in line plot, histogram, bar chart and simulated analog needle formats. Multiple data sets can be displayed on one graph, or separate graphs can be displayed on the same screen. Data can also be saved in text format and is easily exported to an Excel spreadsheet.

Other features of StarLab include Windows 7 64-bit compatibility for faster processing of large data sets, synchronization and display of multiple channels in one window, user-defined and multichannel calculations, and an easy-to-use configuration panel for all channels. The software logs power and energy, and calculates and displays averages, statistics and histograms.

OphirLMMeasurement is included with StarLab and is available now. It runs on Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Vista (32-bit) and Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit) platforms.
