High-Power Faraday Isolators

BERLIN, Dec. 28, 2010 — MolTech GmbH has announced a series of high-power Faraday optical isolators that transmit light in one direction and stop the light in the reverse direction.

The devices ensure laser source isolation by reducing reflected and backscattered light by several orders of magnitude. They are designed to compensate for thermal depolarization with simultaneous compensation of the thermal lens.

Applications include fiber lasers, ring cavity lasers, noise-sensitive precise measurements and other tasks where extreme sensitivity to optical feedback, intensity instabilities, frequency pulling and other unwanted effects is critical.

A variety of models cover the spectral band from 0.5 mkm to 1.5 mkm. A number of models are suitable for laser powers of >kW.
