The GLV18 series photoelectric sensors with clear object detection available from Pepperl+Fuchs use reflectors to detect transparent objects up to 2.5 m away, or opaque objects up to 5 m away. They can detect transparent objects to a contrast as low as 18%, including objects as transparent as glass or a clear film. They carry the CE mark and are UL/cUL-listed. The sensors come in an industry-standard M18 threaded cylindrical housing that is up to 50% shorter and with up to 50% lower power consumption than many competitive models. They include a flush-mount bracket that allows for a simple, tool-less, unobtrusive means of being mounted on a conveyor. Ball-and-swivel and half-clamp mounting brackets are also available to facilitate precise positioning of the sensors. They are suited for use in materials handling applications, primarily for detecting clear shrink-wrap webs or semitransparent trays or cartons.
