The Spectroline Select XLE-Series UV cross-linker from Spectronics Corp. makes it possible to identify and analyze trace amounts of DNA/RNA with greater sensitivity, accuracy and speed in comparison with conventional analysis. The UV crosslinker is cost-effective, and it covalently binds nucleic acids to membranes in <30 s – 240 times faster than vacuum-oven baking. Its true-UV-monitoring circuitry safeguards test results from washouts, even when the tubes age. It features a user-friendly programmable microprocessor, built-in “help” messages and an autorepeat function for easy and fast operation. It is available in 254-, 312- and 365-nm versions. Applications include eliminating polymerase chain reaction contamination, nicking ethidium-bromide-stained DNA in agarose gels, gene mapping for creating cleavage-inhibiting thymine dimers and UV sterilization.
