NEWARK, Del., March 18, 2011 — B&W Tek Inc. has updated its i-Spec portable spectrophotometer.

The system is equipped with silicon and InGaAs array detectors, allowing it to measure from 350 to 2600 nm. It provides optimized high-throughput spectrographs, a plug-and-play USB interface, broadband and high-speed measurement systems, and built-in high-intensity light sources with forced-air cooling and SMA905 fiber optic input/output connections.

The company offers a variety of fiber sampling accessories for the i-Spec that make it suitable for broadband transmission, reflection, absorption and emission measurement applications.

The newest model, the BWS005A, features an extended InGaAs array detector with a built-in AutoZero function, resulting in low noise and a high dynamic range. It is designed with four levels of gain, producing good results for most applications in low-light-level near-infrared detection.

It can be used in agricultural, pharmaceutical, geological, gemological and semiconductor applications.
