KARLSRUHE, Germany, March 21, 2011 — Enclosures from the IP67-protected Orca large camera line are available from autoVimation for all cameras with a cross section of up to 62 × 62 mm, including line-scan models from Toshiba Teli, SVS Vistek, Basler and the Rauscher AViiVA versions, as well as Sick's Ranger line.
Orca enclosures are based on a patented quick-lock and heat-guide system that thermally couples the camera to the outer enclosure wall. Because of the passive cooling effect of the enclosure wall, the camera temperature is reduced by up to 10°. The mounting position within the enclosure is flexible, enabling the camera to be installed at any angle and in any position. Combined with the proprietary mechanical kit for image processing solutions, the enclosures can be used to create complete machine vision systems. Users of Sick's Ranger camera, for instance, use Orca enclosures to build stable, weather-resistant 3-D scanners.
A 3-in. front window enables installation of wide-angle or large telecentric lenses. For outdoor applications, the enclosures can be fitted with a controlled heating system that ensures a minimum temperature of 10 °C within the enclosure at outside temperatures as low as -45 °C, preventing damage to the camera. The enclosures are available in three standard sizes, with a maximum length of 250 mm. Options include various back walls that can be fitted with large cable glands.
