Optris GmbH has unveiled the line-scanner function of the optris
PI Connect analysis software, which is delivered with the optris PI infrared cameras
for thermal imaging. The new function can be used for displaying and monitoring
continuous processes. The wide-angle IR line camera is used for noncontact temperature
measurement of moving objects, especially if the optical path to the object is limited. The
camera is used in applications such as monitoring the temperature homogeneity of
plastic sheets after extrusion. It always measures the material surface at the same
spot so that temperature values are comparable and can be used for process control.
The line-scanner function conducts temperature measurement in one line with up to
200 pixels and displays those as a thermal image with an unlimited quantity of lines.
