VICTOR, N.Y., May 24, 2011 — Toptica Photonics Inc.’s TA pro narrowband diode laser system delivers output of up to 2 W and is robust enough for use in challenging atom optics applications.

The tunable continuous-wave laser features a linewidth (5 µs) of 100 kHz and a mode-hop-free tuning range of up to 50 GHz. It operates from 645 to 1083 nm.

The patented master oscillator power amplifier system’s master oscillator is a diffraction-limited pro laser with a tapered amplifier that increases the signal to high output powers while maintaining good spectral properties.

It is designed with flexure joints, specially developed mirror mounts and a solid laser head created from a single metal block to render it robust with respect to vibrations and environmental changes.

With its narrow linewidth, the system is a good cooling laser for Bose-Einstein condensates and ultracold Fermi gases. Because of its high output power, it also is suited for optical dipole traps and optical lattices.

Features include a nearly diffraction limited output beam, low drift, and fast AC and DC current modulation for the master laser and amplifier.
