laBEARRheolube 716R, a bearing grease developed by Nye Lubricants Inc., is suitable for applications that require low bearing noise. Quiet greases typically are used in AC/DC electric motors, computer cooling fans, disk drives and dental drills. A company-commissioned acoustic study at Purdue University suggests that Rheolube 716R ranks closely with quiet oil in its vibration level, start-up noise, noise peaks and damping characteristics. The company is offering evaluation samples of the bearing grease.
