For use in biomedical and industrial applications, Nikon Metrology Inc. has introduced the SMZ-745 stereoscopic microscope. Its airtight, anti-electrostatic, anti-mold design prevents samples from being damaged by electrostatic discharge as well as by contaminants such as dust and water. The microscope is optimized with the Greenough optical system, allowing it to reach a zoom ratio of up to 7.5x. The magnification ranges from 3.35x to 330x when combined with the auxiliary objective lens and eyepiece. The instrument has a total reflection prism, which results in bright, high-contrast images. It features a working distance of up to 115 mm and a trinocular optical head suitable for monitoring and digital imaging. Applications include cell biology, botany, embryology/in vitro fertilization, and medical device manufacturing.
