In cooperation with Xiton Photonics and the Institute for Medical Laser Technologies of Ulm University, Z-Laser Optoelektronik GmbH has developed a blue 457-nm-emitting laser module based on solid-state disk laser technology. With beam quality of M2 = 1 and optical power of >500 mW, it measures 300 x 200 x 200 mm. Efficient pumping of the solid-state disk was achieved via an 880-nm-emitting laser bar. Bulky thermal masses were eliminated, without affecting the performance of the laser. The air circulation-based cooling mechanism enables the laser to be used in the laboratory as well as in the industrial and medical fields. Included are the optical system, the air cooling ventilation, the electronics and the user interface. The system can be customized for OEM clients.
