CHESHAM, England, Aug. 24, 2011 — As a result of the increased interest in radiation-resistant zoom lenses for 1-in. (16-mm diagonal)-format cameras, Resolve Optics Ltd. has introduced variants of its nonbrowning zoom lenses that have been adapted to suit this larger format.

The design of the compact Model 290 motorized zoom lens provides a 6× zoom movement, enabling the lens to image objects from 800 mm to infinity without using add-on adapters. When focused at infinity, the lens produces high-resolution images on axis at full aperture throughout the zoom range without refocusing (image tracking). Operating at f/1.8, the lens produces minimum geometric distortion from 400 to 750 nm.

The company now offers the nonmotorized Model 192 (6× zoom, f/1.8) and the motorized Model 200 (3× zoom, f/2.8) nonbrowning lenses as 1-in.-format lenses.

The lenses will be of interest to customers who want to replace legacy systems because the original lenses are no longer available or to users of 1-in.-format solid-state cameras.

All optical elements of the nonbrowning zoom lenses are made using cerium oxide-doped glass or synthetic silica, enabling them to withstand radiation exposure of up to 53 million rad and temperatures up to 55 °C without discoloration.
