Photonics Industries International Inc. has extended its Nd:YVO4-based DSH series intracavity harmonic laser offerings to include a 50-W green and a 30-W UV diode-pumped solid-state model.
The high-power lasers will benefit next-generation crystalline silicon or thin-film-based solar cell processing; glass cutting; thin or low-k wafers and LED substrates scribing and dicing; via hole drilling; flex circuit cutting; indium tin oxide patterning/flat panel display processing; and other micromachining applications.
The YVO4 model produces 532-nm green laser radiation and is supplied in a compact rugged design. Its TEM00 beam has an M2 value of <1.3. The laser offers pulse rates from single shot to 300 kHz, pulse widths of ~40 ns, RS-232 computer control, external transistor-transistor-logic triggering and a high-power closed-loop chiller. It is air-cooled and includes pulse energy control to vary the output from 10% to 98%, a beam expander from 2 to 10 mm and an output power monitor.
Applications include LCD repair, wafer marking, lidar, stereolithography rapid prototyping, matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry, semiconductor processing and interferometry. Other uses include noncontact inspection, fluorescence, holography micromarking, laser marking and scribing, laser singulation, Ti:sapphire pumping, optical parametric oscillator pumping, particle image velocimetry and fiber Bragg grating manufacturing.
