Working with high-stability materials such as glass, Zerodur and silica, Optical Surfaces Ltd. supplies high-precision reference flats that are used to measure the surface accuracy or the transmitted wavefront of flat surfaces or optics. Benefiting from a thermally stable manufacturing environment, the company achieves a surface accuracy of λ/20 peak-to-valley and surface roughness of <1 nm on reference flats up to 600 mm in diameter. The reference flats are used in high-precision applications in astronomy, laser beam steering, inspecting gauge blocks, and interferometric flatness testing of prisms, filters and optical windows. Optics up to 450 mm in diameter are provided with a Fizeau interferometric test report, and larger flats and spheres are quality assured using the Ritchey-Common test.
