RICHMOND, British Columbia, Canada, June 13, 2012 — Point Grey Research Inc.’s multi-interfaced Zebra2 camera line is for traffic and surveillance installations that require real-time viewing and postprocessing, such as automatic license plate and number plate recognition, and incidence analysis. Available in 2- and 5-megapixel CCD models, the camera simultaneously streams low latency uncompressed video over HD-SDI and sends compressed or uncompressed images through a Gigabit Ethernet interface.
It features proprietary image processing technology designed to capture high-quality, color-rich images in a variety of dynamically lit indoor and outdoor environments. It maximizes image quality through advanced noise reduction, tone mapping and color interpolation techniques. The new image pipeline, combined with Sony CCD imagers, allows the Zebra2 to capture crisp images of fast-moving objects.
The camera is supported by the company’s FlyCapture software development kit. Third-party software compatibility is provided through standard protocols, including real-time streaming, GigE Vision and open network video interface forum (ONVIF).
Customers previously had to use two cameras: one to view low-latency live feed and one for image processing. With the Zebra2, these two needs are fulfilled with one.
The Zebra2 ZBR2-PGEHD-20S4C-CS color model uses the Sony ICX274, 1/1.8-in. CCD and produces 1600 × 1200-pixel resolution at 30 fps. The ZBR2-PGEHD-50S5C-CS color model uses the Sony ICX625, 2/3-in. CCD, producing 2448 × 2048-pixel resolution at 15 fps.
